Sir,

In the preparation of our Estimates for the

session 1929-30, we are including the grant of £30

which the Government of Hong Kong has been good enough

to contribute in the past.

The demand for the teaching of Chinese is

steadily growing, and it is evident that it will be

necessary to arrange for regular courses in Cantonese,

as well as in other dialects. Further appointments

to the Staff are contemplated in the near future,

provided that the School's resources are adequate.

It is therefore hoped that the Government of Hong Kong

will see their way to a continuance of their support of

this School.
